Peek into our design process for the latest 'In High Spirits' collection

In our latest collection, XiXi played a vital role in guiding and perfecting the end result. Together, let's explore her thoughts that has went into this collection.

1. We heard that you were very involved with the design of this collection, which part of the process was the most fun and the most challenging?

The creation of the batik print was the most fun and also challenging because we really wanted to incorporate the snake skin in the print without it being too in the face ensuring that it can be something that can be worn on a day n day basis. 

It was also a challenge convincing June to come up with a sleeveless option which was something i always felt lacking in the curvy local scene. We received many good reviews and welcome when we shared the BTS of this collection especially the sleeveless dress!

Also, we have never had batik prints in plus size easily available and this part of our efforts to make designs more inclusive for my plus size community!

2. For this collection, were there particular inspirations that guided your thought process?

We wanted it to be vibrant and for it to incorporate the snake skin to usher into the new year. 

3. The batik print chosen for this collection is simply stunning. How did you decide on this particular print?

We worked with a local designer Kathleen and it was also her first time at this. We actually went through quite a couple of rounds even with Etna’s local factory to ensure the elements of traditional batik remained and making it more vibrant. I wanted the bright colours to align with the upcoming festivities and that was the main inspiration.

4. The dress in the collection comes in 2 different styles. What made you decide to design them in this way?

I really wanted a dress design in the puffy sleeves, i think it will look very cute for the lunar new year. At the same time, because we want it to work for the sg warm weather, which is something i strongly feel lacking in the plus size community so i convinced June to give it a try.

5. Since this is also a collection launched for the new year, what are some blessings you'd like to share with someone wearing a piece from this collection?
